I was a refugee
Even now I still feel the stamp
Of the refugee camp
But if you paid careful attention
Or paid for my school fees
The food I killed and the health services I got
You realize am speaking in past tense
Being a refugee is not death sentence
It’s the other way round
And more round
Coz a refugee is someone who ran away from the death sentence
To bask in the beauty of life
And life is not just s sentence
It’s a paragraph, chapters of divine providence
So whether you have a refugee status or not
Appreciate that you are still alive and not
Complaining why you are still low and others high
You never know what the others smoked
Never compare yourself to others
Even Jesus
Was once a refugee
Jeez
