Actually, I think it’s more that the certification providers have sold Agile to business with the idea that people need to trained or certified. Then the certification providers have licensed trainers to provide expensive courses and so it goes on.
Everyone is so busy trying to get certified and trying to do Agile, for example the Scrum Guide doesn’t say you need to stand up in any meeting ;-) that it becomes impossible to just be Agile.
Communication is at the core of being Agile as is respect. It often seems that’s forgotten in favour of following rules.
