I’m a white South African, and didn’t experience apartheid(separatism) but grew up in the aftermath and there are still growing pains in our new democracy.
The statement I want to respond to is the one Peter Thiel made towards apartheid being a sound economic system. I’m always shocked when old black South African men say that they miss the old days of apartheid because they had “enough”.
I have always wondered why. I came to my own conclusion about this. They were already old men when apartheid ended, and struggled to build a better life with their new found freedom(and responsibilities).
