Katie Hopkins “Show me bodies floating in water” : Hope not Hate urges action

Letter from HOPE NOT HATE

Katie Hopkins has travelled to Catania, Sicily, to cover the work of ‘Defend Europe’ — the far-right mission to block NGOs from saving refugee lives in the Mediterranean — on behalf of Mail Online.

These far-right activists are plotting to actively endanger lives, yet she has said that she is “looking forward to meeting the crew” who, she says, will “Defend the Med”.

There is little surprise to Katie Hopkins’ support of this activity. Two years ago, she smugly penned a column in which she stated:

“NO, I don’t care. Show me pictures of coffins, show me bodies floating in water, play violins and show me skinny people looking sad. I still don’t care.” and “Bring on the gunships, force migrants back to their shores and burn the boats.”

Just months ago, she stood by this message. There is no doubt that Katie Hopkins will use her online column to support and defend dangerous and life-threatening behaviour.

We believe the Mail has a duty not to amplify the cheerleading of far-right extremist activity that could ultimately lead to the loss of lives. If you agree, join us in calling on them to remove Katie Hopkins’ platform to do so.

Katie Hopkins has one hate-filled voice. Let’s use our many, united voices to drown hers out.
