I am unquestionably late to the party as a fan of Best Ever Food Review Show.
This channel posted its first video in 2015, and since then has amassed 9.6m subscribers. It can also boast an award called a Webby (2020 – Viral Video of The Year) and being the first US owned YouTube channel to gain filming access in Iran (not a small feat).
I only came across it a few days ago, but have been working my way through the entire backlog of videos.
The channel is hosted by Will Sonbuchner from St. Cloud, Minnesota. He goes by the alias “Sonny Side”.
Sonny has both simultaneously the boyish humour of a mid-west class clown and a deep respect for the people and cultures he encounters.
As far as I can tell he has lived in Asia since he was 24. Starting in Korea teaching English before later migrating to Vietnam where he currently resides with his wife.
In the videos Sonny travels around to some very exotic and remote cultures in search of the story of their food.
