The Huawei Mate 40 is set to be one of the most high-profile phones in late 2020, and we now have an idea of what might be an example of its main features.

The conversation is too early to Huawei Mate 40 Pro all the changes to be introduced as well. There have been rumors about rumors in recent months, but always leave a certain degree of doubt. This may be an exception to the new image rendering, released by the leak by Teme. Not only because it looks well-made, but also because the leaker is difficult to catch us even after some improvements. Therefore, it seems to be talking about is illegal, but also because we see in the rendering of content should exist camera smartphone.

The Huawei Model Mate 40 range will use a Kirin 1020 chipset. the Kirin 1020 is based on Cortex A77 or even A78, and its performance has increased by as much as 50% year-on-year. It uses TSMC’s 5nm process. This would be a new top-end chipset from the brand, offering even more power than the Kirin 1020 chipset found in the Huawei Mate 40 Pro range.

Kuo additionally claims that the Huawei Mate 40 range will have a ‘freeform’ camera lens. This is a lens design which can apparently reduce distortion in wide-angle shots. In turn, the increased market share has meant lower sales of rival companies’ phones using Qualcomm chips. Since those rivals are important customers for Qualcomm, the end result helped Huawei to exceed its American rival for the first time.

The arrival of the next chip, likely to be called the Kirin 1020, as mentioned below, is likely to cement Huawei’s success in the home market, though of course, it will be hoping to thrive in overseas markets, too, which is trickier given the absence of Google Mobile Services on its new phones. This absence is irrelevant in China since Google services such a Gmail are banned there. Anyway, back to the camera on the Mate 40 Pro.

It’s only a few weeks since the magnificent Huawei P30 Pro went on sale. There’s another top-end phone on its way: the P40 Pro+ is due within weeks and already promises to take photography to a new level with a five-camera design including the first multi-reflection periscope lens on a smartphone. This means it can divert the path of the light further to allow a 10x optical zoom without bulking up the phone impossibly.

Earlier in April, the exceptional analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities reported that Huawei had a series of interesting features for the Fall flagship. There would be a 5nm chipset offering hugely increased performance with better power consumption, for a start. The company’s own-brand silicon, called Kirin, has been hugely successful and this phone will likely be powered by Kirin 1020.

But even more interesting is the camera that is predicted. He believes it will come with a freeform lens. If you look up freeform lenses, you’ll almost exclusively come across references to spectacles lenses, and there’s no smartphone yet with a freeform lens on its camera.

We would, of course, take all of this but the chipset claim is very believable, as Huawei usually debuts a new top-end chipset in its flagship Mate models.

We don’t know much else about the Huawei Mate 40 range yet, but we’d expect more rumors will start rolling in as we get closer to launch, and Hmsarena will be sure to cover all the credible ones.
