As a woman, I would say that I’d be scared for being alone at night in the subway. No matter what color may be the man, I’m mostly scared by then if I’m lonely. The fear of being raped chases me wherever I go, it does not matter if men are or aren’t black. I know that the color issue matter a lot, but being a men doesn’t give you the feeling of fear that being a woman does. Maybe she was afraid of getting mugged, maybe not. We’ll never know. But she was alone. And being alone — as a woman — is fucking scaring.
