A Step Forward- Women Entrepreneurship Strategy

I had the honour of being a part of the federal government’s announcement of the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy — a plan to help women grow their businesses through access to financing, talent, networks and expertise.

Friends, take a look at the Women Entrepreneurship Fund and apply for a $100K grant.

I would also like to take this time to say something to those applying for the WES Ecosystem Fund. Make sure your programs are inclusive. Women in Canada are not a monolith. Make sure your program is designed with intersectionality in mind: how are you supporting women with disabilities, those in rural areas, Indigenous women, visible minorities, newcomers, those in the LGBTQ2SIA+ community and more? If we are truly trying to facilitate growth in the economy, we have to ensure we are helping those at the margins.

Thank you to the Honourable Mary Ng and the Honourable Maryam Monsef, for inviting me to speak. The government will be looking at how applicants are applying an intersectional lens. As a Diversity and Inclusion Consultant, I am offering my support to any organization applying that would like someone to help look at the application or program design now or if you receive the grant.
