A New Moon For Transformation And Healing

Today is the New Moon. During this powerful Crone phase, along with divinations, witches work magick that is transformational in nature. With the Moon in Leo, I plan to perform a healing ritual this evening. Divination is also wonderful to include in a New Moon healing ritual and as customary, I drew four runes to gain some insight: Gebo, Raidho, Dagaz, and Mannaz. The current Mansion of the Moon is 8 corresponding with love, friendship, and fellow travelers, and reportedly gets rid of mice. Good thing to remember, although mice can be considered vermin and could represent something unwanted such as an illness, so it could work. The time of the ritual will be 11 pm corresponding with drastic change. Since that’s what’s needed, it seems like a good time for some transformational healing.

Gebo is a wonderful rune to use in healing because it brings balanced energy to the situation and increases a spell’s effect. It promotes partnership so it assists the body in the healing process in a balanced fashion. Gebo is also known as the gift which brings a sense of mindfulness regarding the illness as well as the healing process.

Reinforcing the balance brought by Gebo, Raidho assists the individual in aligning with Higher Self energies, bringing purpose and harmony to the healing process. During illness, the body doesn’t work together properly allowing all sorts of problems to occur. Raidho influences the body to work again in harmony allowing the natural healing process to unfold.

Dagaz suggests that the time is ripe for healing as its appearance indicates the end of one phase and the beginning of a new one. All things are possible at this time; all options are available.

Finally, mind/body/Spirit are in brought back into balance with Mannaz. A rune representing humanity, Mannaz brings integration and harmony to any situation making it a perfect rune to reinforce the healing process.

Since it’s Sunday, I may also use the Square of the Sun to begin the healing process. The seal itself would halt the illness, but I believe it’s a better option to create the space for healing instead of focusing on the illness itself. From there, I’ll create a sigil from the individual’s name using the Hermetic Rose Cross to place either with the Seal of the Sun, or I can draw the sigil on the back of the Square itself placing it under the runes on the altar for a greater healing effect.

Using correspondences such as stones, herbs, colors, days of the week, Mansions of the Moon, and magickal hours of the day and evening bring additional influences and reinforcement to any ritual. Their choice reflects entirely the witch’s focus and intention as well as her magickal beliefs and traditions. I typically write the words I’ll chant just prior to the ritual but even a silent invocation is a beautiful way to cast one’s intention.

Although this is a ritual for a specific individual, with the stress and concern that so many are feeling, I offer healing to anyone who wishes it. These are difficult times and it’s vital that we come together in unified presence to bring peace and healing to all.

New Moon Blessings!
