TO ACHIEVE, NEVER STOP LEARNING

In my previous story, my drive to self-esteem began when I joined the Andela women initiative program. During the program, we were given challenge one that was all about building a user interface for My Dairy product using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript without using CSS frameworks and website templates.

Never Get Tired. “All Champions were once ex- losers”

With the provided resources during the challenge together with my background in software engineering, HTML and CSS were a bit okay. Issues arose as I struggled with JavaScript, more so when I wanted to display the HTML divs conditionally. I didn’t want to use CSS but It was as if I had never written any JavaScript code in life.
However, this turned into a learning experience for me and at the end of the day: I was able to combine the three (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) successfully.

Honestly, I was familiar with Linux but wasn’t comfortable with it whenever it came to programming. I had also heard of GitHub but was green about it especially on how to effectively use it. During the challenge, I became comfortable with Linux and learned how to use git and GitHub together with Pivot Tracker. Pivot Tracker was a new project management tool to me with an interesting aspect of creating and writing user stories.

By the time I completed challenge one, I had learned a lot within a small period of time with guidance from different amazing and knowledgeable Learning Facilitators (LFs) at Andela and was eagerly waiting for the next one.

With this, I realized that whenever you face a challenge, embrace it and think through on how to overcome it to attain success.
