97 points. 95 points. 90 points. Uh oh, 70 points, you must suck. I’m sick of it. How does Robert Parker assign points to the wines he grades? Who knows. For decades he’s been the god of wine. The end all, be all of good wine. He’s started careers, ended careers and launched a movement based solely on his point system. I say enough. Enough of his biased grading. It’s time to live a little. Try new things. Choose wines outside of the norm. Experiment! For instance, Frank Cornelissen is doing amazing things on his estate in Sicily. His wines are nearly impossible to find in America, but if you find it, drink up. If you have the ability to move wine in and out of America, move his stuff!
With 2014 around the corner, my new years resolution is to drink more unique wine. To move out of the Robert Parker point system and into the wild, boundless world of wine. A place that hasn’t fallen victim to Robert Parker’s biased point system. A world full of excitement and the unknown! Join me!
