Reflection, Reflective Practice, and Reflection Models
Reflection (Dewey, 1933)
杜威 (John Dewey) 定義反思是一種有目的性的思考方式,檢視過去的經驗並且改善學習行為的一種過程 [1]。
Reflective Practice (Schön, 1983)
唐納德·舍恩 (Donald Schön)將反思帶到另一個境界,他提出了「反思實踐」的觀念,定義了反思與行動之間的關係,解釋專家如何利用反思來精進專業能力 [2,3]。他提出了兩種不同的類型的反思:「行動中反思」(Reflection-in-action)與「對行動反思」(Reflection-on-action)。
顧名思義,Reflection-in-action 指的是在行動中所做的反思行為。藉由不斷地檢視自身的行為狀態與表現,並即時修正行為,並學習如何達成目標,解決問題。而 Reflection-on-action 則是針對行動後所做的反思行為。藉由重新建構過去的經驗,反思過往行為中的表現,針對需要改進的部分擬定計畫,改善整個學習過程。
Reflection Models
Kolb’s Learning Cycle (Kolb, 1984):Kolb 在 1984 年建構出著名的經驗學習的循環理論 (Learning Cycle),強調個人能夠透過經驗與實踐的方式進行學習 [4]。
Kolb 的經驗學習理論包含了四個階段:
1. 具體經驗 (Concrete Experience):新的經驗或是重新詮釋過去的經驗。
2. 反思觀察 (Reflective Observation):透過觀察與反思,特別針對與過去經驗以及認知不一致的事情加以理解,尋求事情真正的意義。
3. 抽象概念化 (Abstract Conceptualization):透過思考與分析,將新的經驗素材有系統的轉化成概念,並建構知識。
4. 主動實驗 (Active Experimentation):透過主動的實際操作,運用並實踐所學習的知識。
Experiential Learning (Boud et al., 1985):Boud 等人的貢獻在第一次將「個人情緒與感受」(feeling) 將入了反思模型中 [5]。
他們定義了反思三步驟:
- Returning to the experience (重返經驗):重新建構過去所發生的重要事件。
- Attending to feelings (關注個人感受):特別關注當時的情緒與感受,檢視當時情緒的正負向與否,避免忽略導致負面情緒的事件與關鍵原因。
- Evaluating the experience (檢視經驗):重新審視你原本已經了解的事、想要了解的事,並且整合進新的知識中。
Gibbs’ Reflection Cycle (Gibb, 1988):Gibbs 在1988年提出了著名的六階段的反思循環理論(The Reflection Cycle),包含了描述(Description)、感受(Feelings)、檢視(Evaluation)、分析(Analysis)、結論(Conclusion),以及行動計畫(Action Plan) [6]。
Connect to My Research
在輔助新手完成需要專業知識的任務時,必須去藉由一些設計來提高他的覺察力(awareness),進一步誘發出反思行為(reflection),才能夠讓學習者在實踐的過程中表現得更好。
