The Doer

You are about to stand up from your desk at work, it’s about time to go home — finally. The next morning you go to the same place, to work with the same people, for the same boss (who you probably don’t like).

But at the end of the day — if you didn’t screw anything up horribly — you can go home again, and come back again the next day. Hurray!

But when you’re at home, you still think of the work you don’t want to do tomorrow.

If you don’t like doing something, you won’t do it. Simple as that.

You will procrastinate, you will fail at doing things, you will miss deadlines. You will do anything else, but the thing that needs to be done.

“But hey! I like what I do!” — your inner voice says. Congratulations! You already achieved what most of the people can’t during their entire life.

I was wondering. Why people do that? Why aren’t they eager enough to follow their dreams? It was the same with me, ‘nuff said. I planned to start a blog for three months. Did I write a single word? You probably guessed right. NO!

But now I’m getting started, and you know what? It feels incredibly great! This shitty post won’t be the greatest article you ever read. It won’t even make 10 reads. I don’t even want it to be. It’s just a sketch I made in 10 minutes. But I started what I wanted to do!

It’s not a big deal, this isn’t my boss-fight. Writing is just a simple step.

What is your biggest goal? It doesn’t even feel scary enough? You may be better than you think. Why not start it? Just a step. Just ONE little thing. What if you fail? Nothing happens, life goes on. BUT. What if you succeed?

Stop planning. Start doing!
