What is a good UX design? And what makes the great experience for the user? In this post I prepared 4 quick examples on real apps with the little explanation why certain feature is great and marked it with pink (of course) as part of my Google UX Design Professional Certificate task.

I chosed examples from lifestlye, travel, fashion and fitness brands.

1. Useful

Great UX design is useful for the user, which means that the app solve the real problem of users.

Here is an example of such design from the app Slopes, where the app tracks your snowboarding adventures and suggest you to add your friends on the map, so you do not lose each other. This helps users avoid the pain of getting lost in the mountains and show them the overall map with a location.

2. Equitable

Great UX design is equitable for the user, which means the design considered users with diverse abilities. Equitable app address the needs of people with diverse backgrounds.

Example of the Booking.com app below, where the app is designed so that it is accessible to everyone, including users who are for example visually impaired and are using text-to-speech software. The icon on the right in the search bar represents the microphone where users can say destination without needing to type it. Such feature is also equitable for travelers on the go, users that are driving or are at the public transport and have difficulty typing. In situations like these such function comes in very handy.

3. Usable

Great UX design is usable for the user, which means that the app’s design, structure, and purpose is clear with elements or features that make it easy to navigate.

For example, in this fashion app by Vestiaire Collective, users can navigate to the cart icon in the header on the right-hand side above and hassle-free check out from anywhere in the app. The search bar above on the screen also allows users to search by items, brands, etc. This is an example of useful design because it helps the user easily select an item and order it.

4. Enjoyable

Great UX design is enjoyable for the user. The enjoyable app inspire a positive reaction from the user by considering their thoughts and feelings, as well as engage users and make them excited to keep using the app.

This fitness app by Any Distance presents an encouraging message when the user completes the goal and promotes a positive connection with the app when allowing the user to share his goal with friends.

Thank you for stopping by. What do you consider a great UX Design? Do you have any favourite apps or features within the app?
