My main takeaways from social media detox weeks

I shared this post on my Instagram @styljanje but I have decided to share it here as well.

So, I took 3 weeks off and deleted my social mendia accounts and this is how I feel the first day of being back on Instagram again.

“ It felt so good to not have a necessity to share everything instead truly enjoy every single moment, be present and feel the real off-line freedom. At first, I just thought to disconnect for a bit, like few days but then it felt so good to be without social media accounts that activating them back did not feel like a good option.

This feels funny to say but I learned so much in terms of how to gain full control of my time which I really needed with all the busy projects coming along and having difficulty to personally see what to prioritise.

I guess social media’s purpose at early days was to make our lives better, serve us and provide us with the platform so we have more time for things we really enjoy. However, it feels that we are becoming workers of our own creations in today’s world? This is similar to all good things in life — when too many good stuff are becoming harmful?

Deleting social media accounts also gave me a whole new view on marketing. I went to an event last week when someone asked me for my Instagram. For some reason, I was so proud to reply that I, in fact, don’t have Instagram and that there needs to be some other solution for connecting with each other. It felt funny doing offline marketing, which put me in a position to be more creative and finding different ways of projecting the message across and not just really on social media. On top of all this, my iPhone battery was also grateful as it survived way longer without needing to be charged.
I am back now in full run with my increased attention span, mental focus, better time management and fuller mental space. “ — my words published on Instgram post here: https://www.instagram.com/styljanje/
