A little late to the comments here, but in fairness, leaving a super team after a sustained, multi-season run and a few title shots isn’t at all the same as a guy eschewing the super team to bet on himself. He sees the end is near in Cleveland, and while yes, he could look to latch onto one or two more stars in a different city, and commendably he’s not, he doesn’t deserve a pat on the back for altruistically trying to make the NBA interesting again. If anything, he’s just reversing the initial damage he did by exemplifying super-team values and teaching observing GMs at the time that the only way to win was, in fact, the super team.
