Hair on fire?

The vote counts from the 2024 election are still being tallied. More than a dozen races still haven’t been decided. The Republicans won the Presidential race. The Senate majority has been decided in the Republican’s favor by a majority of 52 to 48. The House is still in play, with Republicans in charge at 218 they have the majority there also but 6 seats remain to decide the margin of victory.

The preferred Republican cabinet picks are receiving their “trial balloons” on social media, with the usual “outrage from pundits on both sides. There’s vetting still to be done, and Senate hearings, but there’s time, the new government doesn’t take the helm til 01/21/2024.

The euphoria of the winners is being replaced by the reality of the difficulty of actually governing, while the losing party scrapes together their strategy of defense. There was no “landslide”, or mandate for change, only a minutely small margin for implementing a change of direction. We would all do well to remember politics is like musical Chairs. The music starts again in 16 months. In the meantime, wether it’s the American crew in the Blue jerseys, running the ship of the American state, or the crew in the Red jerseys, the politicians in charge better make sure they don’t run the ship into the rocks of a failing economy, or the sand bar of adverse world…
