We shouldn’t praise Magic for this smart trade, and then follow that up with thinking he’ll make a dumb trade like the #2 pick for (frankly) a pseudo-star like Paul George. With peak-Warriors happening right now in their own division, the Lakers aren’t in any hurry to get better for next year. They can wait on PG (who clearly wants to play for them over all other teams, assuming he’ll actually walk away from the extra $75 million that IND could offer him), and if PG goes elsewhere, the Lakers are perfectly positioned to sign some combo of LBJ, Westbrook, Porzingis, or any number of top FA’s that may be looking to move after next season.

Slowly but surely, the Lake Show is making a comeback.
