I gained a significant amount of weight twice in my life. Once after a trauma and with the addition of a medication and once when my marriage was failing and I was cooking and drinking that away. I come from a family of eating disorder and diabetes. There are the anorectics and the morbidly obese, food pushers and gourmet cooks. It is a tough crowd to quietly regulate diet in but when diabetes caught up with me I knew what to do. I lost 45 pounds with diet and moderate exercise and need no medications to control my blood sugar. I am glad you wrote what you did about the social aspect- it is a huge piece and one must wear armor to hold ground if the same friends and family are around.

I did grow up on an organic farm and have toyed with raw veganism but have trouble with protein and the blood sugar thing. It gave me a good start…I was already a label reader! Thanks for a good read.
