● Two top stories today! Nintendo Switch is now at over 5 million units sold in Japan after just 79 weeks (PlayStation 4 took 181 weeks). The top five selling retail games in Japan are:-
- Splatoon 2–2,621,928
- Super Mario Odyssey — 1,788,228
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe — 1,738,502
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — 1,065,780
- Kirby Star Allies — 591,721
● Nintendo announced a worldwide Nintendo Direct for tomorrow with 35 minutes focusing on upcoming Nintendo Switch and 3DS games (no Mario Kart Tour). Global times are 15:00 PT, 18:00 ET, 23:00 BST, 00:00 CET, and 07:00 JST.

● Success announced the latest game in the Umihara Kawase series with Umihara Kawase Fresh! scheduled for 2019 release on Switch, and playable at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.
● Tozai Games announced R-Type Dimensions for Switch releasing worldwide this Winter including both R-Type I and R-Type II with switchable 3D and 2D graphics. Announcement trailer added here.
● Kairosoft announced both Game Hatten-Koku++ (Game Dev Story) and Yukemuri Onsen-kyou (Hot Springs Story) are in development for Nintendo Switch and will both be at theTokyo Game Show.
● Taito confirmed their Ninja Warriors game for Switch will be called The Ninja Warriors Once Again, releasing in 2019 and playable at the Tokyo Game Show. Trailer added here.
● Konami announced they will be publishing the action puzzle Snake Pass in Japan this Fall. Promo video added here.
● Silver Star Japan announced the shogi game Oshiete ♡ Onedari Shogi for Switch releasing this Winter and featuring cosplayers as in-game models.
● SAT-BOX announced they will be bringing their hit smartphone game Drop Eraser to Switch this Winter with a new (temporary) name of Bokura no Keshigomu Otoshi (Our Drop Eraser). Promo video for the smartphone version added here.
● Clouds Play Company announced the jump action game Osyaberi!Kakejyo!~Ubawareta Dot Coin o oe!~ will release on the Switch eShop next week (13 September) priced at ¥600. The game is a follow up to Osyaberi! Horijyo! (Queen of Digs!). Promo video added here.
● Rideon Japan announced that the SRPG Mercenaries Wings: Itsuwari no Fushichou (Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix) will release on the Switch eShop on 27 September priced at ¥1,500 with an early purchase price of ¥1,200.
● This week’s Hamster game was the top-down shooter ACA NEOGEO Ninja Commando priced at the usual ¥823.
● Acquire announced the four-player beat-‘em-up SCRAP RUSH! for Switch which will be playable at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
● Neo Future Labs announced the first-person metroidvania game HAMMER WORLD: DIMENSION TRAVELER for Switch, scheduled for 2019 release and to be featured at the Tokyo Game Show.
● Prism Plus announced the puzzle game Rooms: Anne to George no Fushigina Puzzle (Rooms: The Adventure of Anne & George) for the Switch eShop on 27 September priced at ¥1,680. Trailer added here.
● Joyful table today published the horizontal scrolling shooter Chuka Taisen (Monkey King: Master of the Clouds) on the Switch eShop priced at ¥1,200. Trailer added here.
● Devolver Digital today published the platform shooter Broforce on the Switch eShop priced at ¥1,500. Trailer added here.
● Darkwind Media published the side-scrolling beat-‘em-up Wulverblade on the Switch eShop today too priced at ¥1,980. Trailer added here.
● Entergram published a demo for the visual novel game Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai -Library Party- on the Switch eShop.
● Starsign will publish the pinball game Werewolf Pinball on the Switch eShop next week (13 September) priced at ¥300.
● LAN — GAMES EOOD will publish the online dice game Rento Fortune (Rento Fortune Monolit) on the Switch eShop next week (13 September) priced at ¥1,990 or ¥1,592 for the preload price.
● And Nekki will publish the fighting and role playing game Shadow Fight 2 on the Switch eShop next week too (13 September) priced at ¥1,500. Trailer added here.
● Mayonaka Garan (The Midnight Sanctuary) didn’t release today as planned with publisher UNTIES saying it should now release on 04 October where it will be priced at ¥1,200.
● New games available for preload include Atelier ~Arland no Renkinjutsushi1·2·3~ DX which is 10% off from ¥11,664 → ¥10,497. The single games are also available from ¥5,184 → ¥4,665 per each title. Senjou no Valkyria 4 (Valkyria Chronicles 4) is available for ¥8,089, Subarashiki Kono Sekai -Final Remix- (The World Ends With You: Final Remix) is available for ¥5,184, MotoGP 18 is 10% off from ¥6,400 → ¥5,760, and Musou OROCHI 3 (Warriors Orochi 4 is also 10% off from ¥8,424 → ¥7,581 or from ¥12,204 → ¥11,361 for the Deluxe Edition.

● Starsign announced the action game Imomushi Wars (literally ‘Caterpillar Wars’) on the Japanese 3DS eShop next week (12 September) priced at ¥400. The game is developed by SIMS.
● Rainy Frog have published a demo for the puzzle game Square Pict Block-a-Pix (Block-a-Pix Color) on the Japanese 3DS eShop allowing 30 plays with 152 blocks required.

● Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp should see Leif’s Flower Stand available later this week!
● Dragalia Lost has reached the 500,000 pre-registration mark with all players receiving 1,500 Wyrmite at launch, allowing 10 free summons.
● Fire Emblem Heroes will see New Heroes (Doorway to Destiny) on Friday featuring Quan: Luminous Lancer, Silvia: Traveling Dancer, and Lewyn: Guiding Breeze from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. Japanese and English trailers added here. Today also saw Voting Gauntlet: The Chosen Ones with the first round seeing Hector vs. Ike, Ephraim vs. Roy, Celica vs. Lyn and Veronica vs. Lucina.
● Niantic announced that if you trade a Pokémon that has spent time in a Trainer’s Pokémon storage in Pokémon GO since July 2016 to August 2016, it is guaranteed to become a Lucky Pokémon!

● Arc System Works announced Psikyo Collection Vol. 2 for Asia featuring Strikers 1945 II, Tengai, Gunbird 2 and Dragon Blaze.

● Little Dragons Café -Himitsu no Ryuu to Fushigina Shima- opened at number six in the Media Create charts this week selling 11,860 on Switch. See the full Nintendo-only charts here.
● This week’s Weekly Famitsu review scores saw Flat Heroes with 32/40, Chalk Dash Carnival with 27/40 and Mentori Puzzle with 27/40.
