● Japan was hit by two natural disasters this past week with Typhoon Jebi affecting mostly western Japan seeing 17 fatalities, and the Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake affecting the Hokkaido region and seeing 39 fatalities. The relief effort is still ongoing. You can make donations at Yahoo or at the Japanese Red Cross.
● The disasters also had a negative affect on Nintendo Co., Ltd., with the first ’N’ from the company’s main Kyoto building falling, and an announced Nintendo Direct understandably postponed. ● Nintendo Switch is now at over 5 million units sold in Japan after just 79 weeks, with Splatoon 2 the best-selling retail game with 2,621,928, followed by Super Mario Odyssey with 1,788,228, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 1,738,502, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 1,065,780 and Kirby Star Allies with 591,721.
● Both Splatoon 2 and the upcoming Pokémon Let’s Go games will not be supporting Save Data Cloud backup, with Nintendo explaining this is to “ensure fair play”.
● Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD for Nintendo Switch which is listed as ‘coming soon’ and priced at ¥2,980.
● Bandai Namco Entertainment announced Nari Kids Park Ultraman R/B, Nari Kids Park HUGtto! PreCure and Nari Kids Park Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger all for 21 November priced at ¥5,184 each.
● Success announced Umihara Kawase Fresh! for 2019 release on Switch, and playable at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.
● Tozai Games announced R-Type Dimensions for Switch releasing this Winter including both R-Type I and R-Type II with switchable 3D and 2D graphics.
● Kairosoft announced both Game Hatten-Koku++ (Game Dev Story) and Yukemuri Onsen-kyou (Hot Springs Story) are in development for Nintendo Switch.
● The new Yoshi game for Nintendo Switch will be called Yoshi’s Crafted World according to data found on Nintendo of America’s own website.
● Bandai Namco Entertainment also announced that Kamen Rider: Climax Scramble Zi-O will launch on 29 November priced at ¥7,344 for the regular edition or ¥10,584 for the limited edition.
● Capcom released a Rockman 11: Unmei no Haguruma!! (Mega Man 11) Demo Version on the Switch eShop with preloading now live.
● Taito confirmed their Ninja Warriors game for Switch will be called The Ninja Warriors Once Again, releasing at retail in 2019.
● Konami announced they will be publishing the action puzzle game Snake Pass domestically on the eShop in Japan this Fall.
● Arc Systems Works announced Kunio-kun: The World Classics Collection will release on 20 December priced at ¥5,800 with Hanazono High School’s Dodgeball Club as an early purchase benefit.
● Nippon Columbia announced that the new San-X character game Gesshi~zu: Gajigaji Nakama wo Sodateyou will release on 15 November priced at ¥6,264.
● Acquire (who released Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono and helped with OCTOPATH TRAVELER) announced the four-player beat-‘em-up SCRAP RUSH! for Switch.
● Neo Future Labs announced the first-person metroidvania game HAMMER WORLD: DIMENSION TRAVELER for Switch, scheduled for 2019 release.
● Prism Plus announced the puzzle game Rooms: Anne to George no Fushigina Puzzle (Rooms: The Adventure of Anne & George) for the eShop on 27 September priced at ¥1,680.
● Chorus Worldwide announced both the 2D adventure Forgotton Anne and the roguelike adventure Vambrace: Cold Soul for Spring 2019 release.

● Starsign announced the action game Imomushi Wars (literally ‘Caterpillar Wars’) for the Japanese 3DS eShop next week (12 September) priced at ¥400.
● Rainy Frog published a demo for the puzzle game Square Pict Block-a-Pix (Block-a-Pix Color) on the Japanese 3DS eShop allowing 30 plays with 152 blocks required.

● Nintendo updated Wii U to Version 5.5.3J where “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.

● Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp saw Tia’s Rosewater Cookie Leif, the second half of Brewster’s Sweet Harvest, and Leif’s Flower Stand.
● Dragalia Lost reached the 500,000 pre-registration mark with all players receiving 1,500 Wyrmite at launch, allowing 10 free summons.
● Fire Emblem Heroes saw Grand Hero Battle: Jamke, Voting Gauntlet: The Chosen Ones, New Heroes: Doorway to Destiny, a Version 2.9.0 update adding Combat Manuals and Relay Defence, Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon — Farewells, and Summoning Focus: Tempest Trials+.
● Niantic announced that if you trade a Pokémon that has spent time in a Trainer’s Pokémon storage in Pokémon GO since July to August 2016, it is guaranteed to become a Lucky Pokémon!
● Super Mario Run saw a Princess Peach Spotlight Event where all the items you get from Remix 10′s Super Bonus Game will be related to Peach.

● Take-Two Interactive revealed the strategy game Sid Meier’s Civilization VI for 16 November release on Nintendo Switch in a webpage since taken down.
● Sega Games have rated Puyo Puyo e Sports for Nintendo Switch in Korea.
● Arc System Works announced Psikyo Collection Vol. 2 for Asia featuring Strikers 1945 II, Tengai, Gunbird 2 and Dragon Blaze.

● Capcom are holding a Gyakuten Saiban (Ace Attorney) event at the Tokyo Game Show on 22 September where they promise to “deliver up-to-date information on the Gyakuten Saiban series that fans cannot miss!“
