Product Update v4.0 — Bitcoin Cash is LIVE
New coin, new wallet, new curated pages & more!
Early this year we set out to solve the problem of high transaction fees while using Purse. With a lot of love, sweat and beers, we’ve put together a major update to your experience, including a total redesign of the wallet plus features which will help reduce fees for everyone.
TL;DR:
> We’ve upgraded your wallets to use SegWit addresses , which will help reduce fees when sending Bitcoin [BTC].
> We’ve built support for spending & earning Bitcoin Cash [BCH], which is a great option for people who want to save more dough. Transaction fees on this network are currently much cheaper and less volatile.
Shoppers, simply fill your wallet with Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash and start shopping. Earners, you’ll be able to pick which coin you’d like to earn before accepting an order. Choose wisely. (Or flip a coin?)
Our community has demanded more cryptocurrency choice and this is our first big step. To celebrate, we’ve partnered with the Bitcoin Cash Fund to rain cash on you all.

What’s New in v4.0
- Brand new wallet designed to support multiple currencies! We’ve worked hard to improve the experience of funding your wallet and we hope it shows.
- SegWit ‘Bech32’ addresses for Bitcoin! You may now send to/from a SegWit-compatible wallet to save on fees while transferring BTC. If your wallet does not recognize the new address format, not a problem, you can switch to the legacy format.
- Native support for Bitcoin Cash! You may now spend & earn BCH! We’re excited about this cryptocurrency because it’s optimized for transactions, which means lower fees for all.
- ‘CashAddr’ addresses for Bitcoin Cash. Will help prevent you from accidentally sending BTC to your BCH address. If your wallet does not recognize the new address format, no worries, you can switch to the legacy format.
- Bitcoin Cash balances are now available in your wallet! If you held a balance before the fork last fall [and did not claim it during the withdraw period] you will now see that BCH balance in your wallet. Free money, go get it!
- Quickly buy Crypto with Simplex. If you’re fresh out of Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash, you’ll be able to easily purchase with a credit card from our friends at buy.bitcoin.com. An order minimum and exchange fee will apply, so we think it’s a better deal to load up your wallet all at once rather than purchasing a small amount per order.
For Shoppers:
- Browse artfully curated categories! See our latest product collections, which have been hand-curated by our crew. Hover glitz much wow.
- Pay with Bitcoin Cash! You may now choose to fund your order with Bitcoin Cash [BCH], which currently has much lower, less volatile fees. Learn more.
- Set a preferred coin to spend. In Account preferences, you can select which currency balance to spend first when funding an order. (Just in case you wish to HODL the other coin harder).
- Important note: If you currently hold a BTC balance and wish to spend BCH on an order [to take advantage of that promo], you must deposit BCH and set your coin preference before placing that order.
For Earners:
- Earn Bitcoin Cash! You may now choose to earn Bitcoin Cash [BCH], which currently has much lower, less volatile fees. Learn more.
- Order book now displays % premium. To make it easier to sort through available offers, you can now see the % above market rate for each order.
What’s Changed:
- Removed the Snap Checkout button. So we can double our efforts on streamlining the cart order flow.
- Filter ranges adjusted. So that it’s easier for Earners to sort through available offers by price.
- iOS & Android Apps. Download the new version from App Store or Google Play Store, so you can take advantage of all the fresh features.
