Are You A Psycho If You Don’t Listen To Music/Podcasts While Driving/Doing Work?

I think it’s pretty normal that people try to listen to music or a podcast or something when they can. If you are driving, walking somewhere or really at any time that otherwise would be silent. Driving and listening to things includes driving something like say, a mower. I used to work at a golf course and I’d pop in the headphones and cruise around cutting grass and listening to KFC Radio or something.
Well, my buddy has been cutting grass at this golf course for the last couple years. I went over his house last night to watch a little Thursday Night Football. Little did I know what I was about to discover.
So he casually pulls out these big “Beats By Dre” headphones. Wireless, matte black, headphones that he just bought at Best Buy for a pretty penny. I have the same headphones and I love ‘em. But then he tells me why he purchased them. He says he needed them so he can start listening to things like while cutting the fairways at the course. START? He says he has spent the last 3 or 4 years just cutting the grass in silence (well silence besides the sound of the mower). Hasn’t had anything going on during those days of driving a mower around for 7 or 8 hours. Nothing but the thoughts in his head.
I’m blown away by the fact that this was normal to him. It’s such a savage move that frankly, you almost have to respect it. So does just staring off into space and deep thinking for hours on end with nothing but a whirring motor as background noise make him a psycho? Possibly
