The Five Running Backs to Avoid In Fantasy Football This Year

This is just like the blog about QBs to avoid in fantasy drafts this year. It isn’t the worst 5 QBs, it’s moreso guys that you should watch out for who might be getting hyped up, or are just due for a fall off or something. So watch out for these 5.

5. David Johnson- So don’t get me wrong, I really like Johnson. But a second year guy who has a very small sample size (a very good one, but small) being ranked so high isn’t something I’m interested in. He’s also in an offense where they throw the ball quite a bit and the other backs were also successful when healthy last year. He’ll be off the board quick and I don’t wanna be the one taking him, despite he fact that I’m a fan. He’s got bust potential.

4. Any Patriots Running Back- This one is pretty obvious because no Pats running back has ever really been a reliable pick (minus Corey Dillon) and really none of the Pats backs are good or highly regarded anyway. With Dion Lewis out there is no one to grab because of A. talent and B. the fact that it is impossible to predict who BB gives carries too each week. Just don’t do it.

3. Doug Martin- Doug Martin has been really good. But he’s also been really bad. His career is very inconsistent so far and somehow is still highly ranked. Don’t trust him.

2. Anyone in the Seattle backfield- After Thomas Rawls played real well in place of Marshawn Lynch last year it was a pretty easy thought that he’d be a stud guy for Seattle moving forward. But training camp has shown that Christian Michael is challenging him and may be taking the starting spot. Reports are pretty back and forth on who will end up the starter, but even then that person isn’t guarenteed to hold the role. Stay the hell away from the Seahawks tailbacks.

  1. Devonta Freeman-It’s much easier to pick out highly rated guys that you should stay away from at the running back position. What with age, injury and lack of track record, there are a lot of pitfalls. Freeman burst on the scene last year but now there are rumblings about his backup, Tevin Coleman, stealing a lot of the reps. Between that and Freeman’s limited track record (and the fact that most of his points were scored in a few otherworldly games), I’m not touching him.
