Theo Epstein Goes “Undercover” In The Wrigley Field Bleachers

I like Theo Epstein a lot. He puts together great baseball teams that may or may not break historic curses, but he also seems like a pretty regular guy. He was caught taking in a game today in the bleachers at Wrigley Field, the day after his Cubs clinched the National League Central. It’s really an awesome way to celebrate, by watching a baseball game among the common folk and just enjoying the moment. It must be great to kind of let the stress go for a minute before October comes and he’s losing his shit over every pitch.

But, c’mon with the disguise. It’s really a terrible effort. First off, the mustache is the fakest looking mustache I have ever seen and in pictures from Twitter, it appears that it has fallen off a few times and he’s just sticking it back on like no one noticed. Second, who’s actually ever seen someone with a big mustache that is wearing a hat and sunglasses. It’s almost less of a disguise because that disguise is so obvious. He should have just showed up wearing a backwards Cubs hat, a Kris Bryant jersey and gotten piss drunk. It’s called hiding in plain sight Theo.

I love the idea, and I love that he gets to enjoy being a fan on one of the last warm days at Wrigley, but the President of Baseball Ops has to do better than a fake ‘stache. Enjoy today Theo, because in a month when the Cubs are losing Game 1 of the World Series that place is going to be a house of horrors.

*Also, it looks like General Manager Jed Hoyer is sitting next to Theo wearing no disguise at all. That guy’s pretty non descript looking but kind of a weird move to have one guy hide and another guy out in the open.

**I’m convinced Theo just loves to dress up like a weirdo and doesn’t care if people know it’s him. He left Fenway Park in a gorilla suit and he probably would’ve worn that out to the bleachers today if it wasn’t so warm.
