On Blogging

My New Years (aka post-Burning Man) resolution is to start blogging. I should have started years ago but I kept procrastinating, because it takes a long time to build an audience, and in the meantime I hate to feel like I’m shouting into the wind.

Then I realized that I spend hours every day writing emails that are usually read by just one person, and surely my blog will have at least one reader (Mom, I’m counting on you!) If by chance I attract 2 or 3 readers, that’s a 2–3x improvement over most of my emails. So there you go.

This blog will focus on whatever crazy shit is going through my head, which is to say no focus whatsoever. I’ll try to write every day, but maybe I won’t. I’ll try to say smart stuff, but maybe I won’t.

I do promise to respect your time, because time is our scarcest resource. I won’t use fancy words, because they make your brain hurt. My goal is to entertain, amuse, and enlighten.

And so it begins…
