A good piece. And I agree with it. But I’d take it a step further.

I’ve been known to quote Chomsky as well. But I’ve become wary of him in recent years. I’ve come to realize that, as the official figurehead of the political left, his views are used to police the boundaries of allowable thought, this far left and no further. In the end, Chomsky is a mainstream liberal and, in practice, a Clinton Democrat.

“Somehow lefts that would, on a rainy day, apply the Chomsky/Herman lens to a bag of Doritos are incapable of applying it to establishment lefts at the margins, even when these people are on commercial television. Understandable, really, since I don’t think Chomsky gets how Chomsky applies to Chomsky either.”
