It just occurred to me that you can dig your way out of a hole, if you dig a ramp up to the surface out of the side of the hole, which would also fill in the hole with dirt, making the depth to ascend from that much less the more you climb and dig out your ramp.

I could dig myself out of a hole by digging foot holes and climbing out, but I am afraid of heights so digging a ramp out of the side of the hole works better for me.

Plus, a ramp is wheelchair accessible, so it’s likely I could get government funding to dig myself out of my hole.
