It’s a new year and the perfect time to consider what you want from 2023. However, creating and then keeping up with New Year’s resolutions is often difficult.

Whether it’s to lose weight, travel more, eat more veggies, read a book a week, connect with old friends, get a raise at your 9–5, start a new hobby, finally use any of the million things you bought offline but have yet to open and/or all of the above — writing down your goals, creating a plan to achieve them and then executing is often harder than it sounds.

AI via ChatGPT helps me to create New Year’s Resolutions for 2023.

To ensure a more structured approach to creating resolutions for 2023, I decided to try-out and consult OpenAI’s newest product, ChatGPT, for some tips on how to best create resolutions and my oh my it didn’t disappoint.

I simply typed in “10 tips on how to create new year’s resolutions” and voila within seconds the following easy-to-use prescription populated:

  1. Start small: Rather than trying to make major changes all at once, focus on making small, achievable goals that you can gradually build upon.
  2. Be specific: Rather than setting a vague goal like “exercise more,” set a specific goal like “go to the gym three times a week.” Specific goals are easier to track and measure, which can help you stay motivated.
  3. Write it down: Write your resolution down on paper and keep it somewhere visible as a constant reminder.
  4. Make a plan: Break your resolution down into smaller steps and make a plan for how you will achieve each step.
  5. Set a deadline: Having a deadline can help you stay focused and motivated to achieve your goal.
  6. Share your resolution with others: Sharing your resolution with friends and family can provide accountability and support.
  7. Keep track of your progress: Regularly tracking your progress can help you stay on track and make adjustments as needed.
  8. Don’t be too hard on yourself: It’s okay to have setbacks or to not achieve your goal right away. Just keep trying and don’t give up.
  9. Celebrate your successes: Celebrate each small victory along the way to help keep you motivated.
  10. Be flexible: If your resolution isn’t working out as planned, don’t be afraid to adjust your approach or try something different. The important thing is to keep making progress towards your goal.

In the age of billion dollar UI (User Interface) design from Venmo, Paypal, Robinhood, Instagram, etc — ChatGPT’s UI is very simple and sleek. It’s so easy to engage with, and I know this sounds cliché, that as long as you can type — you can gain value from it.

On my next article, I’ll share my 2023 resolutions that I’ve created with ChatGPT’s generated support. On a future article, I’ll dive deeper into how I think AI will transform many parts of our daily lives.

I hope you have a wonderful 2023 and please feel free to use the above 10 tips to help you plan out your next 12 months. If your resolutions for 2023 are ready to go, consider sharing this article with a friend who’s been looking to improve their New Year’s resolutions, because, as Shuri says in Black Panther . . .

“Just because something works, doesn’t mean that it cannot be improved.”
