American Whiskey arrives in East London.

Campari, Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey and Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey were all celebrated amongst other distilleries from across the pond. Focussing on the underrated, American whiskeys arrived in East London for the American Whiskey Festival at The Star of Bethnal Green pub in E2.

The festival’s main purpose is to “tantalise your taste buds” says Nadean who was celebrating her leaving party with 2 for 1 cocktails all night, with the help from invited Blues band ‘JC.’ Throughout the whole night a special whiskey menu was on hand if drinking it neat was too much for you to handle.

Suppliers such as Sonoma Valley, Four Roses and Tin Cup were confirmed as well as free tastings of all their finest drinks. Georgia Leigh Paddock,19, described the experience as a “sensory journey” as it was her first time at a tasting event and she “loved it.” She later went on and said how she is “not a huge whiskey lover” but all the whiskey she tried “ran smoothly” down her throat.

Bulleit Rye whiskey was also present at the establishment, which had a scent of fruits and a slight hint of vanilla, but tasted like cherries when first ingested then moved towards the taste of toffee and spice. “Bulleit Rye was my favourite whiskey I tried all night,” said a very drunk Lui Issacsson.
