3 Things on Productivity Entrepreneurs can learn from Emma Watson

One of my Friday Favourites this week: Emma Watson accepting best actor in a movie award- the first acting reward that doesn’t separate nominees based on their sex.

Her acceptance speech went much deeper than many other’s but she also caught my attention because of the 80/20 rule she applies to her private life.

Being a busy actor and activist, Watson has leaned to turn what makes her feel healthy into a lifestyle to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Here’s 3 things that work well for Watson and equally work for the tied up entrepreneur:

1. Make self-care/time to recharge a priority

There’s a reason why they tell you to put on your oxygen mask first in case of an airplane emergency. If you run out of oxygen, you can’t help anyone else with their mask. That’s an important metaphor for all the hustling entrepreneurs running around taking care of everything and everyone in their own business and team, except themselves!

You can’t have a healthy business and life without making sure you’re nurturing yourself along the way!

2. Apply the 80/20 rule to both your personal and professional life

Watson strongly supports the idea that 80 percent of your outcomes come from 20 percent of your inputs.

What is your 20 percent that drives the highest impact for your business?

Identify those 20 percent and start to be more ruthless on the non-value adding tasks. Be also aware of the attention hijackers that prevent you from delivering your best results or working in the first place. What works well for me, is to completely switch off my phone and notifications until noonish to ensure I get my work done.

3. Find a workout that inspires you

No, this isn’t a vanity drill! Exercise does not only keep your body but also your mind clear. It’s also an excellent way to combat stress and give you more energy- of which we need plenty as an entrepreneur.

Emma Watson recently discovered boxing and many other well known celebrities and business figures swear by it. I personally love boxing and can honestly say that it’s a great stress reliever and just fabulous workout in general!
