Interior Design — What is it?

Designing and creating spaces

Interior design is the art and science of enhancing the interior of a space or building, to achieve a look that is lively and more attractive for the user. An interior designer is someone who plans, researches, coordinates and manages such projects. An interior designer can take on projects that include rearranging the basic layout of spaces within a building or home, as well as projects that require an understanding of technical issues such as window and door positioning. When planning to recreate and design a space, you must know how to read and design floor plans, which are a big part of your projects. You must also be highly skilled in order to do this because you have to make sure things are up to code in that building or home. So, on the surface, Interior Design may seem like it’s not that big of a job or responsibility, but it is.
