A Little Introduction to Me

Hello World!

This is the first time I’ve written in a long time. I used to write poetry until my grandmother passed away in 2010. She was my inspiration, my mentor, my rock. When she passed so did my writing. She was a poet, a writer, a musician. She had published books, magazine articles, was president and historian of American Pen Women, and played the piano at different places for all to enjoy. Trying to not let tears roll down my cheeks as I recall my memories or her. I think to myself, this is not what she would have wanted, she would have wanted me to continue writing. So here I am.

My name is Jasmine and I am a photographer, a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, a friend, I play many rolls in life. So many times I have to be guarded in what I say (if I ever get spelling or grammar wrong please don’t feel the need to correct me, I had plenty of that in college). Here I will be a bit more candid, I intend to write from the heart. If I ever offend you I apologize ahead of time. Most of what I am known for is photography. This is not all going to be about photography, ok perhaps quite a bit might but we’ll see, it will be about numerous things. My joys, my fears, different things in life.

2014, this is supposed to be a better year for me. Well, it started out with a sprained finger, the kids and I were trying to take each other’s socks off with our feet without using our hands. That’s when I fell against the wall, unknown to me that the linen closet door was open. One of my kids fell on me, that’s when the door slammed shut on my finger. A few days after that I was making a soft box for my lighting when I burnt 5 fingers on the soldering pen. Note to self, YouTube is not the place to learn how to solder. I will now always remember to look at the soldering pen when going to pick it up. A couple of weeks later I hurt my back. I was so proud of myself that I was able to pick up my husband’s weights, there was about 60lbs or so of weights on the bar, to move it out of my way. Mind you, I did use my legs and not my back. It wasn’t until I went to pick up the other bar, no weights were on there, that I felt a sharp pain in my lower back! Are you kidding me! We’re barely into the new year and I have managed to sustain three injuries! This has to stop! Things can only get better, right?
