When people say love is naive, aren’t they talking about a different sort of love? More of an emotional thing. Not necessarily eros or lust, but that is within relevance. I mean ‘love’ as ‘liking a lot’.

When someone intensely loves in this manner, they’re slightly cognitively impaired. They’re more likely to overlook their love-object’s bad behaviour, so they’re at heightened risk of, say, accepting mistreatment by them.

I suppose a bit of healthy cynicism about love helps counteract this.
