Static site generators are in most cases overkill, from my experience. Unless it’s something that requires periodic updates on the order of a blog or something it’s just a bunch of opinionated scaffolding you have to learn. You. Have. To. Learn. There are only so many hours in a day and unless your job is managing this sort of workflow I’ve found it far more efficient to just use html:css:js. Sure, the generator may do fancy optimizations, but you can also achieve the same effect without the weight (Gatsby, I’m looking at you).
