Mighty Welcomes William Yarbrough as User Experience Design Lead
We are delighted to announce that William has joined the Mighty team as our user experience design lead. William will be leading our efforts to rethink how technology can be applied to better the human condition.

William’s had lots of clients over many varied fields: from UX work for hospitals, to international finance groups, to mobile applications in mainland China. William is a real-life polymath (he may be the only designer you know who’s taken the MCAT) and loves designing for new and interesting challenges.
To get to know the man behind the beard, we sat down with William and asked him a few questions:
Tell us about one of your favorite projects. What made it stand-out?
I helped create a tool for a global electronic brand’s tech support. It stood out because they’d tried this in several iterations since 1998 and this was their first foray into experience design strategy.
I did dozens of contextual inquiries and tons of rapid prototype validation tests with techs to deliver an incredible enterprise software tool that really showed the power of design thinking.
What is the most challenging aspect of crafting a user experience? The most rewarding?
The most challenging, in software at least, is getting that investment mentality across. You’re doing a lot of work, spending time and money now, but that payoff will reward you ten fold — it can be difficult to convince people of that goal, however.
The single most rewarding thing is getting to talk to real people. I got into design to help others and it’s amazing when you can talk directly to folks and let them know, “I’m here to help. Your thoughts, feelings, and opinions are valuable to me.”
Little Richard, Iron Maiden, or Yanni?
Little Richard. The guy’s always had flair, style, and showmanship. I consider myself a raconteur, so I identify with him. Though I will say, Iron Maiden if I’m getting tattooed.

William has had the pleasure of working with some of the world’s most respected brands. A futurist at heart, William is looking forward to diving into new industries and challenges to craft imaginative and simple solutions to complex problems.
Welcome, William!
