I see this in my career all the time. I’m an analytical chemist; mostly pharmaceuticals but also some general materials science (ceramics, coatings, adhesives, etc). You know the last time I had to compete with a white guy for a job? 10 years ago. Competing against folks from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Vietnam. Korea, Thailand who are all better educated than me is just my life now. That’s reality. You either step up to the challenge or you leave and from what I can tell, whites (at least men) my age have mostly decided to leave. This idea that somehow not measuring ‘(white) children.. against Asians during the critical four years of grades that will make up the bulk of college application materials’ will help them is mind-bogglingly out-of-touch.
