When you have a powerful idea

and no one will listen

It’s not always about money, but some idea need financial support to get off the ground. You can always build a prototype/MVP, but sometimes it’s not enough if to show a forward thinking concept, if all the components are not there. The investing environment is a complete mess, and favorable to either fast revenue models or perfect scenario situation, or if you lucky and if your concept is simple enough, you can build it and launch it without needing any money.

The toughest part about investing is meeting people in person, as now it’s near impossible to do so without the right connections. You can only perceive so much in a email, and phone calls get you no where, as the old trait of perseverance is now more of an annoyance than a desired trait. And when you finally receive a no, they come disguised as, “I don’t THINK it’s a right fit”, or no response at all. This all means they want to leave the door open, just encase your become ‘hot’, they can say, I think your a good fit now, or sorry, I must of missed your information before.

I hate this new concept that so many investors require that you have gone through some type of incubation or accelerator. When did this become an requirement for building a company? This is one of the most upsetting things to me. It’s a new layer on a already difficult task.

I could not tell you about how many investor websites I’ve read where it starts off by saying, if your someone that thinks different, that goes against the grind, and wants to change peoples lives or thinks outside the box, WE WANT YOU! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve met amazing people along my journey of building a company, and will continue to do so. Plus, I’m not trying to vent, as I will achieve what I’m after, that’s not a concern here, as I’m just talking on the reality and difficulty of the industry I’m facing, consumer driven medical devices. The regulation aspect scares many investors away. In general, hardware is less favorable than software regardless, but the thing is hardware is what leads the major advancements of software.

For me, it’s all about perspective, as I’m going through a hard time trying to find light, but that will never hold me back. I know what I want and I will obtain that goal. It’s just crazy how complicated the investing environment has become since 2004ish. Regardless of what people think, regardless of how many no’s you receive, if you just know deep down that your not wasting your own time and knowledge on something pointless and only driven by money, then stay at it, prevail with the one thing no one can ever take away, your fight.

These are only my thoughts, that I did not really want to share, as in the scheme of it all, it’s pointless, but for the moment, it’s a real reality that I must face to survive for what I believe in. It’s a moment in passing, that we all face, and once you overcome the challenge you’re currently facing, you will realize how stupid you once sounded, and much you have changed. Though social media takes away physical human interaction, it’s also opened the doors for the unheard to have a voice. So in the end, what you want, what you have the say and what you have to give is the only thing that matters, and once you figure that out, you will finally have the choice to turn ‘you can’, into ‘we can’. The only things that makes life worth it, is once you realize it’s not just about yourself, but the gratification of giving back to others.
