Hi Sam,

Thank you for reading and for taking the time to respond.

I like to look at it the way that Robert Brault does: “ We are kept from our goal, not by obstacles but by a clear path to a lesser goal.”

Your Powerlist is your Micro goals for the day and for the week, or the lesser goal.

The 10X Goals are your Macro goals for your life. I like to set 3 month, 6 month, 1yr, 2yr, 5yr, and 10yr goals.

10X Goals are BIG picture. Any 10X Goal should be built around the legacy that you want to leave behind.

I like to write them out every day like Grant Cardone. The idea is to keep what you want in front of you at all times so you know exactly what you’re working towards.

Your Powerlist is the bridge between what you do on a daily basis and achieving your legacy over the course of your life.

Both goals are interconnected/symbiotic which is why it’s helpful to break down what you want to accomplish with micro activities.

For example, one of my 10X Goals is to purchase a 16 to 32 unit rental property in the next 3 to 5 years. In the goal itself, there’s no answer to accomplish it. That’s where the Powerlist comes in. It’s how you execute your plan in stages.

The Powerlist goals are what you use to bridge what you have to do to achieve what you want.

Sometimes what you have to do is not a goal but just a necessary action. This is what Brault is talking about. In the context of your larger goal, how can you break it down into tiny steps that are easy to take? That’s how your 10X Goals influence your Powerlist.

I’ve also found that it can get overwhelming to think about your legacy goals all the time. There’s so much to do and a goal that is 5 to 10 years away can seem impossible to reach. It feels too far away…

There are two ways that I handle this:

I like to use intervals which I talked about in a previous article: https://medium.com/@jasondzamba/used-timed-intervals-to-get-anything-done-92052c752b95

I’m also refining my way I balance my micro and macro goals with a process called goal zeroing. I’ll be writing more about this soon.

Check back soon.

I hope that helps!

Your friend,

Jason
