Svetlana, I would argue that the statues of Hitler were pulled down as part of a rapid, shock-treatment de-Nazification program immediately after the war, which cannot easily be compared with the pulling down of Lenin’s statues in the 1990s ex-USSR or the ongoing removal of Confederate statues in the US.
