You’re talking about bad cultures and yes that’s a real problem but I think it’s a different issue of culture and leadership.

I actually did an assignment (corporate governance) recently that was on gender diversity of boards. There are many studies that show companies do perform better with female representation particularly 30% but it’s not as simple as forcing female quotas. There are also lots of genuine reasons why women don’t pursue these roles due to issues of perceived as being aggressive and “bitchy” or just general bias towards home duties and having children that mean they’re limited for periods of their lives. (If you want sources I can share them).

Thankfully in my MBA studies I don’t perceive any PC censorship as these are just facts and I have to cite my sources. What’s frustrating is that by stating those facts here on medium I’m immediately accused of all kinds of other things that are imagined and that I haven’t said. It seems like the people accusing me have more bias and sexism or racism lurking in their consciousness than those they accuse of such things.

I actually generally don’t see people’s races as a primary thing when I meet people as I’m more focussed on what their personality and other traits are depending on the setting e.g. Experience, intelligence for work or looks if it’s a social event, I’m single and she’s an attractive female :-).

Some of my earliest friends at school were non-Caucasian and I’m in a very white country; Australia. I never even really thought about it being weird to have non-white friends. This to me is why it’s bizarre to have accusations thrown at me when I don’t think like that or even say things they accuse me of. I’m starting to notice some of these people on medium have blocked me when I can’t even recall talking to them. Now that’s one hell of an echo chamber they’re creating for themselves. I like to challenge myself so I enjoy the differing opinions on medium and interacting and discussing. Its fun :-)
