Tourist in London

Travelling is a luxury, that many dream of, yet so few get to experience fully. Most say it because of the cost, finding the time or the right people to go with. I used to be the same till I took my first trip. I packed my bag, booked a ticket and ended up in Paris, France all within 24-hours.

That moment felt like a marvelous adventure in Dora the explorer, my 90’s babies know! During my trip I met a Londoner who told me about an exciting concept. Becoming a tourist in London. It sounded odd at first, why would I want to be a tourist in a city I’m from. Then I realised millions of people come to London every year, taking pictures, exploring sights and having the time of their lives. It was time to find out why…

Yesterday I embarked on my first adventure as a tourist in London, alone. I decided to visit the Natural History Museum in Kensington. Firstly being from Croydon in South London and comparing that to the Sights in Central/ West London was a massive contrast. I would explain further but I think you’d have to experience it to understand.

The Natural History Museum was a architecturally ecstatic, with a classic lay out on both the in- and outside of the structure. It was surrounded by a wildlife garden and many other museums.

National History Museum

The exhibitions in the museum varied widely depending on interest but had enough to please everyone's taste. My favourites were the Human evolutions, Dinosaurs and biology exhibitions. The human exhibition was a great educational experience especially if you’ve read the book Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. If you haven’t the book contains information about the history of Humankind and how we developed as a society to where we are now.

The Dinosaurs exhibition was more to fuel my blood thirst of seeing the T-rex. Awesome beast and they had a mechanical version of it RRRROOOOOAAARING!! at you it almost felt real, recommend that. The biology section was interesting too as a previous science student. You get to play and learn more about the structures you see in books and explore how they actually work with the interactive displays.

This is the first story in my new series and hope to keep you entertained with the rest of my adventures as I try to inspire you to join me in #TouringLondon.
