This is the first iteraiton of my moodboard for a potential Andy Warhol exhibit. I wanted to highlight a few things with this moodboard: the idea of pop art and color. Pop art is a movement for which Andy Warhol’s name remains indelibly connected to. While he wasn't a pioneer of pop art — the movement began in Great Britatin before emigrating to America — he did help push its boundaries and popularize it in the United States. Warhol’s use of commercial products, like campbell soup, and pop culture icons, like Marlyn Monroe and Muhammed Ali, were a distinct part of his art and take on pop art. He was a proponent of the idea that art could be created for all and was meant to be consumed by all — a glaring rebuke of the fine arts. In such, his studio was aptly named The Factory which was a space where many other creators and artists gathered. Thus, the images of my moodboard presents a mash of odd colors with themes of commercialism/consumerism and pop culture.
