Vertigo

I wanted to take a picture of you
Standing at the edge
Hair whipping in the wind
Staring out at the river
Watching regatta races likes toys in a tub
“No one comes up here” you say
And I think it’s a crime
But then again, this place is just ours now
“Did you know there’s a thing with vertigo where you’re up high and a part of you wants to jump?”
Death wish, I mumble.
“Of course, I wouldn’t” you say
But I think maybe I already have
Maybe I’m already over the rail
Because I am falling
