End of week 5…

Well, I have been at this for five weeks now, and I think the best way to describe it is a whirl wind! I don’t know if it’s my age or what, but it just seems so hard for me to switch gears on things. We get to working on front end development, which is really going well, and then switch over to back end, and boom, I’m stupid again. From what everyone keeps telling me this is pretty standard, just keep plugging away, so that’s what I’m doing. We went yesterday and visited an office right here on the American Tobacco Campus. Very impressive to say the least. I have to admit though, I don’t know if I can go back to being in a cubicle. I did that for many years before running my own business, and I’m just not sure if I can do it.

I have really been thinking about where I want my future career to go, and I kind of have a best case scenario. The things I really enjoyed about running my own business was working with other businesses in town. I mean here are people just trying to make a living, and by working together we can all do well. That being said, I would really enjoy working for a small company again. I know for a fact that when I was working in small town NC that probably 75% of the businesses that we did business with had absolutely no web presence at all. Now, that being said many of those businesses simply didn’t need a web presence, and that’s ok. I just remember how when we were working with one of our vendors we could order all of parts online and have them delivered. That was so much easier than calling someone and placing the order.

Anyway, I just kind of hope I can find a job either with a small business or possibly a company that works with small businesses to develop their web presence. Just thoughts for the day, who knows where tomorrow will take me!
