I worked for the Apple Assistance Center many years ago. Inbound calls that mentioned the word “fire” were taken very seriously and escalated immediately. In most cases, we would capture the device from the customer and send it to Engineering. And the customer was usually provided with a replacement regardless of warranty status. YMMV.
