The Happiness Hack

How gratefulness is everything

Every day at 10 PM I have a reminder on my calendar to be grateful. It’s a little thing that makes a big difference for me. But don’t take my word for it, watch this excellent TED talk on the subject.

So every night, sometime between dinner and bedtime I remind myself to be grateful. I pick at least one thing and consciously say “I’m grateful for _______ today.” In a 2003 University of Miami study, people who practiced gratefulness over a 10 week period were 25% happier.

To increase your happiness quotient, take a moment to be grateful.

And on that note, today I’m grateful for my friend Josh. He’s getting married today and he’s supported me through some of the most wonderful and most challenging times of my life.
