Many people every day walk from here to there and back again. An exercise that is often overlooked as even being considered for being a workout by most. But it is one of the best workouts one can do every day without much effort.

Many people will say that walking doesn’t do much or they don’t have the time to go for a walk. I disagree, if you looked at your daily routine, I guarantee you that you can find time for more walking. The health benefits of walking are just too good to not at least try to get in more walking each day.

It is a low impact exercise that you might do every day without realizing it. But if you need further convincing then here is why walking is a great exercise for you.


1. Walking strengthens your heart

Walking is a form of aerobic activity that will increase your heart rate which helps push more blood throughout your body. Which means you will get more oxygen and nutrients for your body. Walking also lowers blood pressure and improves blood sugar and cholesterol levels. By taking only 30 minutes a day to have one brisk walk it can reduce the risk of high blood pressure and stroke by up to 27%.

2. Walking can help you lose weight

Losing weight by walking is not an easy task as one might think. Walking will help if you incorporate it into your daily routine. Thirty minutes a day can burn up to hundreds of calories. Depending on how fast you want to walk the number of calories you burn will change. If you walked at a slower pace at 2mph you will burn around 75 calories depending on your body size and weight. But if you had a brisk walk at 4 to 6mph then you would burn 150 calories or more. Doing this every day and keep a good diet, you will see the pounds burn off in no time.

3. Walking will tone your lower body muscles

Walking every day will help make the definition in your legs, butt, and lower stomach areas. Everyone want to look good and feel good, right? Walking will help define your calves, quads, hamstrings and glutes (butt muscles). If you add in good posture it will also help with your abs and waist area as well. Variate your walking by adding uphill walking or circuit walking, alternate between a slow pace and a brisk pace.

4. More energy

Do you ever have one of those days that you wish you had more energy to get more done? Well by walking every day you will increase the amount of energy you have each day. Walking increase the circulation and oxygen supply to every cell in your body, helping you feel more energized and better than before. Taking a walk in the morning before work can make you feel readier to go to work. Give it a try!
