Awesome framework! Based on my experience, three major challenge is
- everyone thinking they are the pilot (Talent heavy teams)
- Pilot asking the passengers to fly the plane (Directionless management that do not know what they want except wanting the team to innovate)
- Switching Pilot every-time the plane dip due to turbulence (Changing the innovation leadership from a single failure)
Maybe you should add a control tower in your analogy which is innovation management experts like yourself that help companies see the bigger picture.
