Blink Camera Night Vision Not Working

You might have changed the setting of your device and hence Blink Camera Night Vision Not Working anymore.

All Blink cameras have night vision. Blink cameras use an infrared emitter to illuminate an area, which produces black-and-white images. There are settings in the Blink app to change the power of the IR emitter.

Let’s move further and see how we can fix it when Blink’s camera night vision stopped working.

Why Is My Blink Camera Night Vision Not Working?

You have turned the IR control mode “On” and you are only seeing a black picture from the Blink camera.

First, let me say that there have been known firmware issues in the past. If you have a Blink Mini, make sure the firmware is updated past 9.70.

This update was released in late 2020, so it’s probably pretty old by now, but it doesn’t hurt to double-check.

How To Turn ON Blink Camera Night Vision?

If your default settings have been changed in some way, here’s how to fix it when Blink Camera Night Vision Not Working.

  • Open the Blink app
  • Click the camera settings icon

The camera settings icon is on the right button above the camera image. It’s to the right of the camera name and just to the right of the motion icon (Runner).

  • Scroll to the “Night Vision” section.

The Night Vision section is the fourth section below. As of this writing, the sections are currently in this order:

  1. General
  2. Surveillance
  3. Motion detection
  4. Night vision, etc.
  • Enable night vision by changing the “Control” option to “Auto” or “On”.

Try further steps if Blink Camera Motion Sensor Not Working:

  1. Replace the Batteries With the New Ones
  2. Make sure you have not covered IR Emitter
  3. Reboot the Blink camera & sync module
  4. Remove IR reflective materials

Blink Camera Night Vision Settings

You can adjust the two-night vision settings mentioned below:

  1. Control(On, Off, Auto)
  2. Intensity(Low, Medium, High)

Blink Night Vision Control

With the help of Blink’s night vision control setting, you can see if the night vision is enabled or not. You will see three options there i.e On, Off, or Auto.

On: This will enable night vision all the time.

Off: This will disable the night vision until you will not turn it on again.

Auto: The night vision will turn ON based on the light conditions.

Auto is the default setting of Blink camera and we would recommend using it.

What Is The Dark Mode Setting On A Blink Camera?

People often believe that the dark mode setting within the Blink camera has something to do with the night vision but that’s not the truth. In reality, the purpose of the dark mode setting is to control the appearance of your Blink app.

In short, the dark mode setting is not responsible for why Blink Camera Night Vision Not Working.

Why is My Blink Camera Cloudy At Night?

This mostly happens at night. When the Blink camera will go into night mode, the IR emitter will turn On automatically.

Blink security cameras are IR sensitive, when they detect any bright light or reflection it used to create a shadowy effect.
